  • Prelox® – Erectile Dysfunction Supplement – Log

I received my order of Prelox® supplement in the post today and decided I would do a 6 month log on the product for this blog.

    Prelox® - Erectile Dysfunction Supplement - Log

Prelox is a clinical tested dietary supplement for men.

A patented combination of two naturally occurring substances; L-Arginine and Pycnogenol.

I noticed they appear to have added Taurine now also to the mixture, which is another interesting nutraceutical with many benefits.

I am a huge fan of Pycnogenol aka French Maritime Bark Extract and have experimented with pycnogenol supplements previously after reading the studies how it could improve erectile dysfunction through increasing nitric oxide levels.

    Prelox Log – Days 1-15

I have been taking 4 capsules of Prelox daily now for around 15 days with exciting improvements in erectile function.

One of the things I like about supplements aimed at increasing nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability such as arginine to pycnogenol to the likes of Panax Ginseng etc, is that I see an almost immediate improvement in blood flow.

I have been pairing the Prelox with my usual routine of using the Bathmate Hydro Pump, which is amazing and I’d highly recommend it for anyone looking for a gentle, safe means of penis enlargement and improvement erectile function, along with maintaining penile health.

One of the things I noticed from the Prelox from day one, was how much improved blood flow in the pump, I was nearly filling the chamber due to the extra increased blood flow.

As an individual with CFS who suffers constant endothelial dysfunction, I think I will probably try to stay on the high dose of 4 tablets constantly if I can afford it.

Pycnogenol has lots of great general health benefits in itself from antioxidant to anti-inflammatory and much more.

On day 10 I decided to pair the Prelox with Together Health Marine Magnesium Capsules and the immediate benefits to erectile function from adding the magnesium also was significant.

I have supplemented many different types of magnesium over the years with varying effects, but the marine magnesium capsules from Together Health paired along with Prelox has given very strong improvements in erectile function in as little as 1-15 days.

This really makes me angry in many ways as it shows me that my erectile issues were not psychosomatic or “all in my head” as allopathic doctors, general practitioners and psychologists gaslighted me into just because I was a young male and couldn’t possibly have any physical organic cause of ED such as endothelial dysfunction/poor NO bioavailability, hormonal imbalances, hpa-axis dysfunction or the numerous other risk factors I clearly presented as a patient with chronic fatigue syndrome and other complex health problems.

It’s all too easy, lazy and convenient for doctors to resort to misdiagnosing many patients ED as just being from “psychogenic” causes such as anxiety, depression or just general life stress.

Along with the usual defacto generic prescription of an SSRI anti-depressant such as Prozac or Citalopram, which ironically research finds actually causes persistent sexual dysfunction as a side effect in about 50% of consumers.

These doctors have ruined 10-20 years of what should have been my prime adult years suffering in misery, when natural supplements and even dietary interventions (flavonoids etc) clearly offer me significant clinical improvements.

Extremely impressed with the Prelox so far and would highly recommend it for anyone suffering endothelial dysfunction or poor nitric oxide bioavailability.

As someone with chronic fatigue syndrome, I have to be wary and gentle of what supplements I take, as many I don’t tolerate well.

But I seem to be tolerating the Prelox really well so far which I’m happy with, even better than taking the ingredients individually I find. This can be the benefit of having a balanced formula.

  • Ortis – Ginseng Vitality Supplement Review (White Ginseng, Royal Jelly & Pomegranate)

A couple of months back in my local Holland and Barrett health food store I noticed they were running a discontinued sale on Ortis Ginseng Vitality supplement.

I have sampled Ortis other ginseng supplement many times over the years and I’m a big fan, but noticed that this one was slightly different in that it not only contained Royal Jelly, but Pomegranate also.

Being that it was reduced from £21.99 to just £10.33 a bottle, I picked up a few for reviewing on the blog as I’m a huge fan of Ginseng as a tonic herb for men’s health.

Unfortunately I’m not entirely sure if Ortis have now discontinued this particular supplement as I can’t seem to find it on their website.

Which will be a shame if so, as I found it an extremely powerful aid for supporting men’s health and it’s almost immediate erectile function boosting benefits.

Ortis - Ginseng Vitality Supplement Review (White Ginseng, Royal Jelly & Pomegranate)

As said above I have supplemented with Ortis regular Ginseng + Royal Jelly supplement many times over the years, mainly as a way to incorporate Royal Jelly easily into my stack.

However, the enhanced Vitality version above with Pomegranate takes the benefits to the next level.

If you have any sort of endothelial dysfunction/poor nitric oxide bioavailability like I chronically suffer from, then you may notice a huge impact on boosting erectile function as I found.

Each bottle contains a 20 days course and a high concentration: 720mg/day – Ginsenosides: 40mg

The Vitality formula contains Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer or White Ginseng from the hills of Manchuria, harvested when its ginsenoside content reaches a maximum level.

Vitality also contains 500mg of the superfood Royal Jelly, which also has been shown in studies to have various men’s health benefits such as supporting DHEA levels.

Plus finally Pomegranate dry extract. Pomegranate is an excellent fruit for supporting cardiovascular health.

Vitality has a really nice stimulating, energizing, adaptogenic and adrenal supportive effect.

It has an almost instantaneous and immediate effect when it comes to boosting sexual performance and erectile function, rather than taking weeks or months to take effect.

Overall, highly impressed with Ortis Ginseng and Royal Jelly formulas.

Their Ginseng supplements are definitely some of the nicest and well tolerated I find personally.

  • Meals For Men’s Health #1 – Chilli Chickpeas, Salad + Blue Maize Tortilla Chips

This week’s healthy meals to support men’s health and up this time we have the tasty Chilli Chickpea Salad with Blue Maize Tortilla Chips.

As promised, I was going to start blogging some of my healthy meals that I have been eating recently to support both men’s health, cardiovascular function and overall general well-being.

The Chilli Chickpea Salad is 100% plant-based, vegan, high in protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, heart-healthy unsaturated fats and served with the superfood Blue Maize (Corn) Tortilla Chips, which are a unique dietary source of the antioxidant anthocyanins.

Chickpeas or Garbanzo Beans as they known are a type of legume. Legumes are one of the top choices of plant-based food-groups for supporting cardiovascular health, and Western diets are typically very lacking in legume intake.

Heart-healthy diet patterns such as the traditional Mediterranean diet, which research has recently found to potentially promote erectile function, are very rich in legume intake such as chickpeas and other beans.

Consumers of chickpeas and/or hummus have been shown to have higher nutrient intakes of dietary fiber, polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, folate, magnesium, potassium, and iron as compared to non-consumers.[1]

Meals For Men's Health #1 - Chilli Chickpeas, Salad + Blue Maize Tortilla Chips

Blue Maize (Corn) Tortilla Chips – A Source Of Erectile Dysfunction Busting Anthocyanins!

Blue Maize Corn Tortilla Chips Anthocyanins

I decided I would serve the Chilli Chickpea Salad with Blue Maize (Corn) Tortilla Chips instead of the usual wholegrains.

Blue Maize is a very popular food in Mexican culture and as mentioned above is a uniquely rich source of anthocyanins, due to it’s rich purple to blue colour.

Anthocyanins were one of the sub-classes of flavonoids, which research has shown to have the most impact on reducing erectile dysfunction.

  • Maca – The Peruvian Adaptogenic Super Root For Men’s Health

Maca – The Peruvian Adaptogenic Super Root For Men’s Health

Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a popular Peruvian plant of the Brassica family, which grows exclusively in the high mountains of the Andes.

Traditionally Maca has a long history of being used as a food and medicinally to treat sexual dyfunctions, impotence, infertility, erectile dysfunction, hormonal imbalances and as an adaptogen to increase energy and overall vitality.

Given that Maca is one of my favorite functional superfoods for supporting men’s health, I thought I would dedicate an article to some of its health benefits and properties.

Maca aka “Peruvian Ginseng” – A Powerful Adaptogen

Maca aka "Peruvian Ginseng" - A Potent Adaptogen

Maca root is often referred to as “Peruvian Ginseng” due to its potent adaptogenic and tonic properties.

Adaptogens are plants which have been shown to non-specifically increase the bodies resistance to stress and have a normalizing effect on homeostasis.

One of the main primary functions and benefits of adaptogens is by modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA-axis).

The HPA-Axis is highly important for its role in male reproductive health and this is what makes various adaptogens such as Maca highly unique, prized botanicals for their ability to support the neuro-endocrine system and various other aspects such as the adrenal glands.

Adaptogens increase energy, vitality, resistance to stress and overall vigour.

    Maca Root & Erectile Dysfunction

    Maca Root and Erectile Dysfunction

Maca has a long traditional history of being used as an aphrodisiac and as a tonic herb for treating erectile dysfunction (ED).

There is now some limited clinical evidence that Maca root may possess beneficial effects for improving erectile function.

A recent systematic review and meta-analysis published January 2023 evaluated the clinical evidence for or against maca as a therapy for erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.

    The results of the meta-analysis indicate that maca has positive effects on EF in men with mild ED (n = 79, MDs 1.13: 0.64 to 1.61, p = 0.01; p < 0.0001).[2]

    Where To Purchase Maca?

My favorite Maca supplement currently is the Organic Maca Powder from the brand Naturya.

Naturya’s Organic Maca Powder is very high quality, tastes good and is probably one of the most reasonably priced branded maca powders in the United Kingdom.

Available to purchase on Amazon currently for £7.10 per 300g of Organic Maca Powder.

  • Antioxidant Supplements & Male Infertility – L-Carnitine, Coenzyme Q10, Omega-3 Fatty Acids & More

    Antioxidant Supplements & Male Infertility – L-Carnitine, Coenzyme Q10, Omega-3 Fatty Acids & More

A growing body of research has now found that various antioxidants may improve certain parameters of male infertility such as improving sperm quality.

Numerous studies have now implicated oxidative stress (OS) as potentially playing a key role in male infertility by reducing sperm motility, inducing sperm DNA damage, causing mitochondrial dysfunction and many other mechanism’s.

Antioxidant supplements are now thought to be a potential therapeutic treatment option for naturally treating male infertility disorders.

Here in this article I’m going to share some of the best antioxidant supplements with the strongest science base.

The Best Antioxidant Supplements & Sperm Quality Parameters

A network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials published in 2022 studied the effects of different antioxidants on the sperm quality and pregnancy rate of idiopathic male infertility.

The meta-analysis found the top three antioxidant supplements for improving sperm quality parameters were L-Carnitine, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Coenzyme Q10.

    L-Carnitine

    L-Carnitine Supplements and Male Infertility

L-Carnitine was ranked first in sperm motility and sperm morphology.[1]

Analysis showed that carnitines significantly improve total sperm motility, progressive sperm motility and sperm morphology, but without effect on sperm concentration.[2]

L-Carnitine is a compound derived from amino acids and is involved in energy metabolism, by transporting long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria to be oxidized for free energy production.

It is not surprising then that the current research has found mitochondrial dysfunction to be potentially implicated in male infertility and sperm abnormalities.

Oxidative stress, due to overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the mitochondria may be a common cause behind these disorders.

Foods which are good sources of carnitine include red meat, poultry, fish and dairy.

There are two common supplemental forms of carnitine – L-Carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR).

Generally speaking it is thought that acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) is considered to be the superior form.

    Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Male Infertility

ω-3 fatty acid was ranked first in sperm concentration.[1]

Dietary fatty acid composition has now been shown to potentially affect semen quality.

The standard Western diet pattern is typically very high in the likes of saturated fats, whilst being low in polyunsaturated fats such as Omega-3 fatty acids.

Some of my favorite sources of long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA & DHA) include oily fish such as Sardines and Wild Salmon.

For plantbased sources of short-chain Omega-3 fatty acids (ALA), I like walnuts, flax seeds and leafy greens also are a good contributor to omega-3 fatty acid intake.

Individuals who don’t consume oily fish regularly can supplement with a high quality Fish Oil to boost long-chain EPA/DHA.

Vegans have the option of supplementing with Algae Oil Supplements, which are a plant-based source of long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids such as EPA and DHA.

    Coenzyme Q10

    Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme-Q10 had better effective treatment on sperm motility and concentration.[1]

Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like substance, which is an essential component of the mitochondrial electron transport chain and an antioxidant in plasma membranes and lipoproteins.

A study published February 2022 aimed to determine clinical and biochemical predictors of pregnancy outcome and time to pregnancy (TTP) in infertile men with idiopathic oligoasthenospermia (OA) pre- and post-CoQ10 therapy.

The prospective controlled clinical study included 178 male patients with idiopathic OA and 84 fertile men (controls).

Patients received 200 mg of oral CoQ10 once daily for 6 months.

    The study found:

In conclusion, CoQ10 therapy of 6 months is a potential treatment for men with idiopathic OA.

CoQ10 level, male age, semen parameters, ROS and GPx could potentially be used as diagnostic biomarkers for male fertility and predictors for pregnancy outcome and TTP in these patients.[5]

Another prospective study published in 2019 compared the effects of two doses of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) on semen parameters and antioxidant status in men with idiopathic OAT.

    The study concluded:

CoQ10 supplementation improved semen parameters and antioxidant status in men with idiopathic OAT, with a greater improvement shown in men who took 400 mg/day than in those who took 200 mg/day.[6]

There are many different types of Coenzyme Q10 supplements, generally speaking the reduced form Ubiquinol is considered the most superior and best absorbed.

Bio-Active Q10 Ubiquinol by the brand Pharma Nord is one of my favorite choice of Coenzyme Q10 supplements.

Other Antioxidant Supplements & Male Infertility

There are many other antioxidant supplements which have shown to be better than placebo for improving aspects of male infertility.

Some of these include Zinc, Selenium, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Folate and Lycopene.

  • Pycnogenol, L-Arginine, Prelox® For Improving Erectile Function

Pycnogenol, L-Arginine, Prelox® For Improving Erectile Function

Clinical research has found that the natural supplements Pycnogenol, L-Arginine and Prelox can improve mild to moderate erectile dysfunction in studies.

We are dedicated to sharing the best supplements with the strongest science base for treating erectile dysfunction here at The Mens Health Blogger and Pycnogenol, L-Arginine and Prelox ticks all these boxes.

One of the most predominant and common causes of ED (Erectile Dysfunction) in men is poor cardiovascular function.

Particularly endothelial dysfunction and poor nitric oxide(NO) bioavailability.

Thankfully, there are now numerous natural supplements such as Pycnogenol, which have been shown to exert a variety of beneficial cardiovascular mechanisms from anti-inflammatory to increasing production of NO by nitric oxide syntase.

    What is Pycnogenol?

    What is Pycnogenol?

Pycnogenol® is a standardized extract of the bark of the French P. pinaster (Pinus pinaster Ait. Subsp. atlantica) and is a popular nutritional supplement, especially for its cardiovascular benefits.

The primary components of Pycnogenol/P. pinaster bark extract (PBE) are the various polyphenolic compounds it contains (these compounds consist of catechin, taxifolin, procyanidins of various chain lengths formed by catechin and epicatechin units, and phenolic acids). – [1]

Pharmacological studies have found Pycnogenol to exert diverse and numerous therapeutic effects from anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, neuroprotective, cardiovascular and many others.

It’s not surprising then given the science on the vascular benefits of polyphenols that research is finding Pycnogenol to be one of the top potential natural supplements for treating mild to moderate ED (Erectile Dysfunction).

A study published in 2003 took 40 men without confirmed organic erectile dysfunction and administered a combination of Pycnogenol and L-Arginine over a 3 month period.

    The study found:

Treatment with a combination of L-arginine and Pycnogenol for the following month increased the number of men with restored sexual ability to 80%.

Finally, after the third month of treatment, 92.5% of the men experienced a normal erection.

We conclude that oral administration of L-arginine in combination with Pycnogenol causes a significant improvement in sexual function in men with ED without any side effects.[2]

    Prelox®

Prelox® is a natural supplement which contains a combination of L-arginine aspartate and Pycnogenol.

Numerous studies have found Prelox to improve erectile function in mild to moderate ED.

This study shows that Prelox is effective for improving erectile function, and that this effect persists on continuous therapy for up to 6 months.

Moreover, there is some evidence that erectile function continues to improve the longer the therapy is used. [3]

Prelox is a promising alternative to treat mild to moderate ED.[4]

Prelox® is available to purchase on Amazon via the Pharma Nord Store, priced at £29.43 for 60 tablets.

  • Korean Red Ginseng – The Premier Adaptogen Herb For Treating Erectile Dysfunction

Korean Red Ginseng – The Premier Adaptogen Herb For Treating Erectile Dysfunction

Clinical research has found that the popular tonic herb Korean Red Ginseng may be an effective natural alternative treatment for erectile dysfunction.

Panax Ginseng is one of the most commonly consumed ‘adaptogen’ herbs worldwide.

Adaptogens at a basic level, are plants which increase the bodies resistance to stress and have a normalizing effect on homeostasis.

All adaptogen herbs are typically good for supporting mens health, endocrine and hormonal balance through their supportive effect on the adrenal glands and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.

Ginseng has a long traditional history of being used as a tonic herb for treating sexual dysfunction, impotence, increasing vigor and vitality in Chinese medicine and other traditional medicine systems.

I have experimented with most of the common adaptogenic herbs over past decade and Korean Red Ginseng remains my overall favorite choice as a tonic for male sexual dysfunction.

Red Ginseng has a slightly more stimulating and energizing effect compared to other Ginseng’s. Not to mention being more effective for improving erectile function.

Ginseng in Korea is classified into three different types based on the processing method. White and Red Ginseng are the two most common varities.

White ginseng (4–6 years old and dried after peeling), and Red ginseng (harvested when 6 years old, not skinned before steamed and dried), typically producing a higher saponin content.

Korean Red Ginseng & Erectile Dysfunction

A systematic review published in 2008 evaluated the current evidence for the effectiveness of red ginseng for treating erectile dysfunction.

Seven RCTs met all the inclusion criteria.

    The systematic review concluded:

Collectively these RCTs provide suggestive evidence for the effectiveness of red ginseng in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.[1]

Another systematic review published in 2022 evaluated the current evidence for the effectiveness of Ginseng, Rutin and Moringa for treating erectile dysfunction.

    The systematic review concluded:

This review suggests a positive effect of ginseng on EF in men.[2]

Where To Purchase Korean Red Ginseng Supplements?

Il Hwa’s 100% Korean Ginseng Extract is available to purchase on Amazon.

It is a pure red ginseng extract produced by an authentic Korean brand, their product is suitable for vegans, is GMO-free, gluten-free as well containing no preservatives, additives or harmful chemicals.

  • Nuts & Seeds For Supporting Men’s Health

Nuts & Seeds For Supporting Men’s Health

Nuts and seeds are some of my favorite plant-based food-groups for supporting men’s health and optimal cardiovascular function.

Tree-nuts in particular have a strong science base for their ability to support heart health through numerous different mechanisms.

Optimal cardiovascular health is now considered to be a cornerstone for robust erectile function.

Nuts and seeds are good plant-based sources of protein, vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, sterols, essential fatty acids such as Omega-3 and other unsaturated heart-healthy fats, along with an array of beneficial phyto-chemicals such as polyphenols.

I thought I would devote an entire article to my favorite nuts and seeds for men’s health, improving erectile dysfunction, supporting cardiovascular health, their nutritional benefits and much more.

Nuts & Seeds Are High Antioxidant Foods

Nuts are amongst the plant food-groups with some of the highest content of antioxidants. Many seeds are also good sources.

Of the tree nuts, walnuts, pecans and chestnuts have the highest contents of antioxidants.[2]

Seeds such as Flax seed and Chia seed are also good sources of antioxidants such as phenolic compounds.

Oxidative stress has now been shown to play a key role in many men’s health problems ranging from male infertility to erectile dysfunction.

Current evidence links oxidative stress (OS) to male infertility, reduced sperm motility, sperm DNA damage and increased risk of recurrent abortions and genetic diseases. [3]

    Pistachios

Pistachios are up first on the list and for good reason too, clinical research has found that a Pistachio enriched diet can help to improve erectile function.

A study published in 2011 investigated the effects that a Pistachio enriched diet had on International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) scores, penile color Doppler ultrasound (PCDU) parameters and serum lipid levels in 17 married patients with erectile dysfunction (ED) over a period of 12 months.

The study demonstrated that a pistachio diet improved International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) scores and penile color Doppler ultrasound (PCDU) parameters without any associated side effects in patients with ED. – [4]

Pistachios contain numerous nutrients which are beneficial to men’s health including protein, vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, monounsaturated fatty acids, along with an array of phyto-chemicals such as carotenoids, phenolic acids, flavonoids and anthocyanins.

Anthocyanin rich foods as we discussed in our previously article, are one of the sub-classes of flavonoids which have shown to have the most impact on reducing erectile dysfunction incidence. – [5]

    Walnuts

Walnuts are my next top choice of tree nut for men’s health through their effect on supporting and improving cardiovascular function.

Walnuts have some additional nutritional and health benefits over other nuts, possibly due to their exceptionally rich content of omega-3 fatty acids (ALA).

A 1-ounce (28g) portion of Walnuts provides a massive 2.5g of Omega-3 fatty acids in the form of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).

Research has found walnuts to potentially have a clinically relevant effect on improving endothelial function. – [6]

Endothelial dysfunction plays a key role in the pathophysiology of erectile dysfunction that is of vascular origin.

Prospective observational studies and large clinical trials demonstrate various health benefits of walnut consumption including a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases, cholesterol-lowering effects, reduced oxidative stress, reduced inflammation, and blood pressure and an increased vascular reactivity.[7]

    Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin Seeds are another favorite type of seed that I like to snack on and include in my diet for supporting men’s health.

Pumpkin Seeds are an excellent plant-based source of the mineral Zinc, which plays a huge role in men’s health, male fertility.

A 1-ounce (28g) portion of Pumpkin Seeds provides around 2.1mg of Zinc, which equates to 14% of the DV (Daily Value).

Zinc deficiency can have a significant negative impact on men’s health, by impeding spermatogenesis and is a reason for sperm abnormalities, whilst also having a negative effect on serum testosterone concentration. – [8]

From what I could see there isn’t any human studies on Pumpkin seeds and erectile function specifically.

However, there is animal studies which have found diets supplemented with raw and roasted pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L) seeds to improve some biochemical parameters associated with erectile function in rats. – [9]

Contrary to the popular belief that raw foods are always more beneficial or nutritious, the study actually found roasted pumpkin seeds possess more beneficial effects than the raw seeds.

The roasted pumpkin seeds improved the biochemical and oxidative stress parameters associated with erectile function in male rats.

The study authors concluded the roasting may improve the antioxidant activity of Pumpkin seeds.

Either way, Pumpkin seeds are a great nutritious snack to include in any heart-healthy diet to support men’s health in my opinion.

  • Shilajit – The Ayurvedic Tonic For Increasing Testosterone

Shilajit – The Ayurvedic Tonic For Increasing Testosterone

Shilajit is a rock exudate that is found primarily in the rocks of Himalayan mountains.

With a long history of medicinal usage in traditional Ayurvedic medicine and regarded as a maharasa (super-vitalizer) or a rejuvenator (‘Rasayana’).

Shilajit is a safe, herbo-mineral substance, a blackish-brown powder of which the main active principles are fulvic acid, along with free and conjugated dibenzo-α-pyrones (DBPs; Urolithins) and over 40 minerals.

Clinical research has found that Shilajit exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, adaptogenic, immunomodulatory, increases testosterone, enhances spermatogenesis and anti-dyslipidemic properties.

Shilajit Increases Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone & DHEAS

Shilajit increased total testosterone, free testosterone and DHEAS

A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study published in 2016 evaluated the effect of purified Shilajit on healthy men aged between 45-55 for its effect on male androgen hormones such as Testosterone.

    The study found:

Treatment with Shilajit for consecutive 90 days revealed that it has significantly (P < 0.05) increased total testosterone, free testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEAS) compared with placebo.

Gonadotropic hormones (LH and FSH) levels were well maintained. – [1]

    Shilajit & Erectile Dysfunction

Shilajit has a long traditional history of being used as an Ayurvedic tonic for improving sexual vigor and as an aphrodisiac.

An animal study published in 2012 hypothesized that one of the major mechanisms for Shilajit’s impressive ability to improve erectile function is in part due to its parasympathomimetic effect. – [2]

As far as I could see from the research, there isn’t any human clinical studies on Shilajit and erectile dysfunction from what I could find.

However, I have been experimenting again with Shilajit supplements recently and anecdotally I’m blown away by how much Shilajit improves erectile function.

As someone with weak parasympathetic/autonomic nervous system/dysautonomia from ME/CFS, stress and other health problems, I had a feeling some of Shilajit’s ability to improve erectile function may be partially due to its effect on the parasympathetic nervous system.

I find Shilajit a great tonic to stack alongside the likes of herbs such as Korean red ginseng, Tongkat Ali, Cordyceps, Cistanche and others.

    Where To Purchase Shilajit Supplements

One of my favorite brands of pure, natural Shilajit supplements recent is Pure Himalayan.

Pure Himalayan’s Shilajit Powder Extract is a pure, natural shilajit that has undergone freeze-drying and preserves most of the molecular properties of shilajit.

Pine Pollen – The Functional Food For Men’s Health

Pine Pollen Powder is one of my favorite nutritive “functional foods” for supporting men’s health and improving libido.

Pine pollen is a dry, fine, light yellow coloured powder derived mainly from Pinus massoniana Lamb and other plants of the same species.

With a long history of medicinal use in traditional chinese medicine and thousands of years as a healthy food.

Clinical research has found Pine Pollen to have many potential health benefits including anti-aging, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, boosting the immune system, hepatoprotective and lowering lipids and blood glucose.

Pine Pollen – Packed With Over 200+ Bioactive Nutritional Compounds

Pine Pollen powder boasts over 200+ bioactive compounds including small quantities of plant-based forms of Testosterone or “phyto-androgens” as they are now commonly known.

Pine Pollen is referred to in the literature as a “natural micronutrient storeroom”, rich in many kinds of body-demanding amino acids, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, and flavonoids. – [1]

Pollens are typically good sources of adrenal gland and nervous system supportive B-complex Vitamins such as Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid).

Pine Pollen – A Source Of Plantbased Testosterone

“Testosterone, epi-testosterone and androstenedione were found in the pollen of Scotch pine P. silvestrisL. (Saden-Krehulaet al., 1971)”[2]

Most websites state that the content of the above “phyto-androgens” is likely too low to exert any sort of serious clinical anabolic or testosterone raising effect.

However, as someone who is a huge fan of various nutritive pollens such as bee pollen for health, Pine pollen definitely has a “masculinizing” effect over these other pollens from my own experience.

I find Pine Pollen to be a great adjunctive supplement for weight lifting, strength training, bodybuilding and building muscle, far superior to the likes of turksterone and other natural supplements which I’m also a fan of.

Pine pollen powder is also great for boosting libido, sex drive and a mild improvement in erectile function I find, plus hanging flaccid size.

I typically dose anywhere from 1 teaspoon to several tablespoons daily.

    Where To Purchase Pine Pollen

My favorite brand of Pine Pollen Powder currently is from Na’vi Organics.

Their Wild Mountain Broken Cell Wall Pine Pollen Powder is available to purchase on Amazon.
